Yesterday I had the unique pleasure of seeing ‘The Mountaintop” at Edmonton’s Varscona pleasure. I was gifted tickets for my birthday and what a gift!

First, do not let the pandemic stop you from enjoying this gem as Varscona has great safety protocols and allows for social distancing.

Second, we are entering Black History Month, and regardless of your identity or beliefs, this play will profoundly move you.

Third, it is an opportunity to support local arts, local businesses, black talent, and more within a few hours.
P.S Their wine is served at a great price :)

Last but not least is my review. It is clear that countless hours went into creating this masterpiece as no small detail was overlooked. Upon entry, you were exposed to a list of local black eateries. The play centred around 2 actors who portrayed Martin Luther King Jr and a maid. Both actors showcased an array of emotions that were so intense that my eyes experienced a temporary link.

Support local!

The set and costumes accurately reflected that era and no stone was overturned. Between the lighting, sounds, and feathery releases you could not deny that you were now in 1968.

I really don’t want to be the spoiler and I know I take that risk if I write anymore…So just go see it! That means buy your tickets now! https://tickets.shadowtheatre.org/purchase/selection

Note: I am not a formal play reviewer. I am just an everyday Edmontonian who loves a good play

Your average Edmontonians :)
